What we do
Far-UVC at 222 nm has more than a decade of peer-reviewed evidence behind it as a technology; the lamp modules are commodity components. What Frido builds is the system around the lamp: a luminaire designed for public-facing spaces, occupancy and distance sensing that keeps the dose within human exposure limits, mesh networking and remote management across a building or a ship, and a dosing model that learns each room's use. The aim is a product that a cruise line, a restaurant group or a hospital can install across an estate, prove to an inspector and forget about. See the ProTech 2.
History
2020: Company founded in London during the pandemic to bring 222 nm far-UVC into occupied public spaces. First-generation unit developed with founders' capital; selected for the MIT Solve platform.
2025: Seed round closed. Second-generation ProTech 2 designed, built and certified to CE and UKCA.
2025: First cruise-ship installations with global operators; reference sites in onboard restaurants, gyms and spas.
2026: Three cruise ships installed; pilots and marketing programme under way; expansion into further verticals planned for the following year.
Why cruise first
Cruise is the hardest environment for infection control and the most public when it fails: thousands of people in low-ceilinged, recirculated spaces for a week, with every outbreak reported by the CDC under the ship's name. A product that works there works anywhere, and a cruise ship contains a restaurant, a gym, a spa, a theatre, an office and a clinic, so each installation is a reference for every other sector.
